What is a Hospice?

A hospice is a kind of care and a philosophy of care, which concentrates on the palliation of a terminally ill patient's symptoms. The symptoms can be emotional, physical, spiritual or social in nature. The idea of hospice has been growing since the 11th century. Then, and for centuries thereafter, hospices were places of hospitality for the sick, wounded, or dying, as well as those for travelers and pilgrims. Today’s hospice incorporates palliative care for the terminally ill given in such institutions as hospitals or nursing homes, but also care provided to those who would rather die in their own homes.

It began to come into view in the 17th century, but many of the foundational values by which contemporary hospice services operate were established in the 1950s.

We are one of many hospices that server the Los Angeles and Ventura County communities. Providing the best Health care service for your loved ones is our mission. Please contact us today to learn more about our hospice care service.
